MD Death Penalty Supporters To Move Forward With Referendum

Maryland death penalty supporters are saying that they will move forward with a referendum, a day after Gov. Martin O'Malley signed a repeal measure into law. Del. Neil Parrott and Baltimore County State's Attorney Scott Shellenberger made the announcement at a news conference Friday. Parrott, who is chairman of MDPetitions.com, already has brought petition language to the Maryland State Board of Elections to check in advance that the language is legally sufficient. The Washington County Republican led referendum efforts to repeal same sex marriage, the DREAM Act, and a congressional redistricting plan. In November, voters rejected the repeal efforts.
