MD Gubernatorial Candidates Discuss Education

October 18th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

WBAL reports that Maryland candidates for governor are telling the state's teachers some of their plans for improving education. Democrats Doug Gansler, Heather Mizeur and Anthony Brown addressed the Maryland State Education Association convention on Friday, along with Republican David Craig. Craig says he would reinforce Maryland's commitment to local school boards. Additionally, both he and Gansler say they would like to push to make teachers' retirement income tax-free.  Brown and Mizeur want to expand prekindergarten, but they have different time frames for doing so. The MSEA is scheduled to vote on an endorsement in the governor's race Saturday.
