MD Health Secretary Promises To Review Procurement Procedures For Health Exchange

Maryland Health Secretary Van Mitchell is promising officials that his department will review procurement procedures for the Maryland Health Exchange, to avoid any further problems with the exchange website. The state fired its original web contractor last year, after the website crashed when it went online in October, 2013. Comptroller Peter Franchot said it cost nearly a half a billion dollars to fix the old website and then replace its web contractor with software provided by the State of Connecticut. There were no problems with the last enrollment period that ended in mid-February. Mitchell made the promise to the Board of Public Works Wednesday, where Comptroller Peter Franchot expressed frustration about the cost of the website…
