A committee of Maryland lawmakers resumed meeting on Thursday attempting to resolve budget proposal differences between the state Senate and House of Delegates. The lawmakers are largely divided on how to address a revenue package that includes varying attempts to increase the state income tax. The House version of the plan raises less money than the Senate's tax proposal, but would affect fewer taxpayers. Senate President Mike Miller warned legislators this week that to finish the budget they might need to extend the 90-day session, which is scheduled to wrap up Monday. The last time the session was extended because there was no budget was in 1992. Governor Martin O'Malley signed an executive order extending the legislative session if necessary. The Governor remains optimistic that a compromise plan can be reached prior to midnight Monday…
