MD Residents Willing To Pay More For Wind Power

October 19th, 2011 by WCBC Radio

A majority of Maryland residents say they would be willing to pay more for electricity if more of it came from offshore wind power. WBAL reports the question put to more than 800 registered voters asked if they'd be willing to pay $2 more a month if a greater percentage of electricity came from clean, local offshore wind farms instead of coal, oil and gas. Sixty two percent said yes. Support for paying more gets a bit softer among residents of the lower Eastern Shore and western Maryland…and among Republicans. Tommy Landers of environmentmaryland.org said that the two dollar figure is based on studies by the Maryland Energy Administration. He said the poll question was not leading in anyway…
