MD State Police Investigating Hit And Run

October 20th, 2011 by WCBC Radio

On 10/18/2011 at approximately 1636 hours, The Maryland State Police Cumberland Barrack investigated a hit and run accident.  The incident occurred at the traffic signal at Campground Rd and Braddock Rd in Lavale.  The accident occurred when the fleeing vehicle struck the rear-end of a black Chevrolet Cavalier stopped at the traffic signal.  The striking vehicle fled immediately after the incident.  The fleeing vehicle is described as a silver mid size SUV.  It has no front license plate and should have damage to the front-end.  The driver was described as a white male with sandy blonde hair.  He was wearing a black uniform with a yellow patch, possibly a correction officer.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Tfc. Divelbiss at the Cumberland Barrack 301-729-2101.

Slandarizing Correctional Officers seems to be the easy thing to do in this area nowadays. Whomever is responsible for publishing this article should be ashamed of themselves. In case anyone out there fails to realize, correctional officers are not the only professionals that wear black uniforms with a yellow patch. I have seen Cumberland Police, State Police and several private security personnel wear uniforms of the same colors. I would think that responsible reporting would leave conjecture and hearsay out of the factual description.
