Medical Marijuana Commission Processing Applications

November 9th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Based on the volume of grower, processor and dispenser license applications received by the deadline, the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission anticipates continuing its preliminary processing of documents through midweek. Once this preliminary review is complete, the Commission will provide an update on:

 1.       The total number of applications received;

2.       The number of applications received in each license category;

3.       Where applicable, the senatorial district for which applications were received. (Please note: During the stage one review process, those seeking grower and processor licenses were not required to specify the jurisdiction in which they propose operating.)

“We’re very pleased not only with the number of applications we received but also the geographic diversity they represent,” said Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission Executive Director Hannah Byron. “The strong response generated indicates the State will have a sizable pool of well-qualified candidates to consider for licensure, thus ensuring the medical cannabis industry is self-funded by highly experienced operators as envisioned by the state legislature.”
