June 7th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

On Saturday, June 06, 2015 at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to Memorial Avenue at E. Second Street in reference to a female near that area yelling for help. Officers arrived in the area and determined that the screams for help were coming from an apartment located in the Jane Frazier Village Housing Complex. Officers responded to the apartment and knocked on the door. A male subject later identified as Shaolin Bishop Murray came to the door, the officer noticed that Bishop was very upset and breathing heavily. The officer attempted to speak with Murray about what was going on but Murray slammed the door shut striking the officer with the door. The door did not close all the way so Murray opened the door again, shoved the officer back and again slammed the door. During this the officer briefly observed a female inside this apartment yelling in distress. The officer made entry into the apartment and told Murray he was under arrest. Murray took up an aggressive stance and began to swing his arms in a punching motion toward the officer. After a brief struggle officers were able to place Murray under arrest. During the altercation the female fled from the residence and additional officers were not able to locate her to find out what was going on. Murray continued to resist while being walked to the patrol car. Murray was searched before being placed into the patrol car and while doing so a baggie containing Marijuana was located. The searching officer removed the baggie and as he was laying the baggie on the roof of the patrol car Murray pulled away from the officers grasp, lunged toward the baggie grabbing it with his teeth and attempted to break away from the officer. No officers were injured during this incident. Murray was transported to Police Headquarters for processing and was later taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was held on $2,500.00 at the Allegany County Detention Center.
