Metz Conducts Final Board Meeting

When he first came to office he helped secure funding for a new Mountain Ridge High School in Frostburg- and as he leaves, he has played a role in the same manner for a new Allegany High School in Cumberland. On Tuesday night Allegany County Board of Education member Jeff Metz participated in his final public meeting- with his term set to expire next month after opting not to see re-election. Metz came to office in January of 2005, at which time the board was in the midst of seeing the first new high school built in Allegany County in fifty years. His fellow board members conducted a brief “roast” during the Tuesday session, and he was presented with a gift certificate and a plaque to recognize his 8 years on the job. Rumors have persisted that Metz is not done with public office as his name is routinely mentioned as a possible candidate for county commissioner in two years.
