Mid May Special Session To Deal With “Doomsday” Budget

Despite all of the partisan bickering and philosophical fiscal differences- Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley is confident that republicans and democrats alike will come together in two weeks and hammer out a reasonable budget for FY 2013.  After meeting last week with House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Mike Miller- the governor called for a mid May special session of the General Assembly to deal with the “doomsday” budget that was approved in the final hours of the regular session April 9th. That budget contains more than 500 million in cuts, and creates no new revenue streams. The governor says everyone realizes that some changes have to be made…
