Mikulski Oversees Ribbon Cutting at NOAA Center

Maryland U.S. Senator Barbara Mikulski, NOAA Administrator Jane Lubchenco, and University of Maryland President Wallace Loh participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening the NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction.  This new center houses 825 meteorologists, scientists, data managers and other NOAA employees who provide the nation with government weather, climate, and hydrological forecasts in various time scales. The forecasts range from weeks in advance to predictions for an entire season, including the number of hurricanes for the year. Mikulski said the importance of early and accurate weather forecasts cannot be overstated…
