Miller Cautions Slashing Taxes and Fees

Maryland Senate President Mike Miller said he realizes that proposed tax cuts or a reduction in tuition costs are popular ideas- but he says given the current economic climate they aren’t very realistic. Republican Governor Larry Hogan made tax cuts a priority during his first year in office- cuts which included a roll back in the toll fees. With the next session just a few weeks away, and Maryland looking at a budget surplus for the first time in recent years- some lawmakers want to continue tax and fee slashing. Miller, who has been in the General Assembly since 1975 and has served as senate president since 1987, says unfortunately you can’t keep reducing taxes without sacrificing services and harming other important programs:
