Mineral County Declares Itself A “Second Amendment Sanctuary”

February 8th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The Mineral County Commission has declared the county a Second Amendment Sanctuary. The Mineral Tribune reports that during the commission’s  regular  meeting, all three of the elected officials agreed to adopt the resolution dealing with the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.  The Mineral County Commission stated in their resolution that they “have a deep commitment to the rights of law-abiding citizens of Mineral County, to keep and bear arms as constitutionally protected,” and declared the county as a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”  Roger Leatherman, president of the commission, said that several state counties have already been declared as sanctuary counties.

Interesting that the news article has a picture of a semi-automatic assault rifle.

It’s nice to live in a county and state where our Constitutional freedoms are recognized and celebrated.

    Just an FYI OR 2…
1.The “AR” in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. … AR-15-style rifles are NOT “assault weapons” or “assault rifles.” An assault rifle is fully automatic, a machine gun. Automatic firearms have been severely restricted from civilian ownership since 1934.

    2. The Constitution does NOT define ‘arms’ as to ONLY include a specific type of weapon! “To Bear Arms” could include owning a BAT!

Some versions of the AR-15 were classified as “assault weapons” and banned under the Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act in 1994. This act expired in 2004.
