On 5/6/2012, Dennis Kerling, age 23 of Lonaconing was reported missing from the Lonaconing area. On 5/7/2012, a resident on Seldom Seen Rd in Lonaconing reported seeing a suspicious male walking in the woods near his residence. A search of the area was conducted by deputies from the Sheriff's Office, however, the male was not located. It was confirmed that the male seen was Dennis Kerling. Maryland Natural Resources Police K9 was requested to assist with the search. Ofc. Dieterle and K9 Blu arrived on scene and began a track, from where the male was last seen. A short time later, Dennis was located. He had been in the woods for over 24 hours, without food or water. He was transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for an evaluation.
