Missing Teen Found Dead After Car Accident

February 21st, 2016 by WCBC Radio

A teen who has been the subject of a search for the past week has been found dead of injuries sustained in what appears to be a car accident. 18-year old Cassie Vosburg was found in a vehicle over a steep embankment along Route 93, in a location that was somewhat hidden by recent snow and ice.

West Virginia State Police is heading the investigation.  The Keyser Detachment issued the following release…

On Saturday, February 20, 2016, while members of the West Virginia State Police were continuing the week long attempt to locate Ms. Cassie Vosburgh, a report of a silver passenger car was received from Grant County 911. The caller indicated they observed a silver vehicle over a steep embankment along SR 93 in Grant County. Members of the WV State Police Moorefield Detachment were dispatched to the scene to identify the vehicle. The vehicle was positively identified as well as the lone occupant to be Ms. Vosburgh.

The vehicle appears to have veered off the west roadway edge and over a steep embankment. It is believed the recent snow and ice storms hampered the visibility of Law Enforcement, members of the community, and ongoing regular traffic along this route until recent temperature changes caused the snow and ice to melt.

Members of the New Creek Fire Department, Burlington Fire Department, and Maysville Fire Department were dispatched to respond to assist in traffic control and road blockage. The scene was investigated by members of the West Virginia State Police with the assistance of the Grant County Medical Examiner. The investigation remains under review. No further information will be made public at this time.
