Mock DWI accident staged at Frankfort school

April 25th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

In an effort to demonstate the dangers, and often times, fatal results of drinking and driving, a mock accident was staged at Frankfort High School Wednesday afternoon. The Fort Ashby and Wiley Ford volunteer fire departments, along with Ridgeley  and Short Gap volunteer fire department ambulances, arrived on the scene of the mock accident. Trooper Five helicopter was also called to the scene. Crews worked on the eight victims, all of whom weren’t wearing their seat belts. Firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate victims from the Plymouth. One of the female victims was found without a pulse. Medics struggled to place her on a backboard. They covered the male who was ejected from the other vehicle with a white sheet. Medics detected an odor of alcohol. The driver  was given a field soberity test and failed. The event was scheduled just prior to prom season, when incidents of drinking among students is on the rise.
