Monday Afternoon Accident Claims Life Of Eastbound Driver on I 70

Type of Incident: Fatal Traffic Collision

Incident Date and Time: 01/23/2017 at approximately 4:12pm

Location: 9 Mile Marker, Interstate 70, East Bound, Hancock, Washington County, Maryland.

Vehicle: 2009 Ford Fusion

Driver: Pending until notification is made to next of kin

Injuries: Driver was pronounced dead at the scene

 

Narrative: On 1/23/2017 at approximately 4:12pm, Troopers from the Hagerstown Barrack responded to the area near the 9 Mile Marker of East Bound Interstate 70, Hancock, Washington County, Maryland for a report of a single vehicle collision.  The driver of the 2009 Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time all lanes at the 9 Mile Marker Eastbound on Interstate 70 are closed pending the reconstruction of this accident.

     At approximately 3:20pm, The Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack put into effect the Snow Emergency Plan for all of Washington County due to hazardous driving conditions caused by ice covered roads. At this time the Snow Emergency Plan is still in effect.
