Montgomery County Activist Pushing For Gun Control Referendum

When the Maryland General Assembly voted last month to approve one of the more stringent gun control measures in the nation- a number of callers to WCBC’s ‘Dave Norman Show” talked about the need to petition  the bill to referendum. While it appeared such an effort wouldn’t materialize after MDPetitions.Com, and the NRA decided not to launch a petition drive- opting to shoot it out in the courts instead- a Montgomery County activist has decided to push for a referendum. Sue Payne says she hopes to have a website online in the next few days so that voters can download and sign petitions to get the bill on the ballot. Last month, Delegate Neil Parrott, who leads MDPetitions.Com along with the NRA and several gun owners groups decided not to pursue the referendum, noting the cost of mounting a campaign to get the law overturned, and they objected to having a constitutional right go to the voters.
