More than 200 will graduate from AC this week

Allegany College of Maryland will hold commencement exercises Friday, Dec. 19, and graduate more than 200 students in a 7 p.m. ceremony that celebrates their achievements. The candidates, who have attended ACM’s Pennsylvania campuses in Bedford and Somerset counties and Garrett County site as well as the Cumberland campus, will receive about 240 associate degrees and certificates in career and transfer programs. ACM’s president, Dr. Cynthia S. Bambara, will welcome graduation candidates, their families and guests to commencement, while Kim B. Leonard, chair of the Board of Trustees, will offer greetings. Three students who distinguished themselves with high academic achievement will deliver the commencement address on behalf of the fall 2014 class. They are Lynette Huff of Cumberland, Lisa Humbertson of LaVale and Emily Yoder of Swanton. The three commencement speakers will celebrate the achievements and friendship of classmates, thank faculty and staff for guidance and praise friends and family for encouragement and support.
