Morning Mishap Hospitalizes Two, Partially Shuts Down US 220 For An Hour

Tuesday at approximately 1018 AM, a Deputy from the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported vehicle crash on Rt. 220 at the intersection of Rt. 956 in the Bel-Air, Allegany County, Maryland area.

Upon further investigation, it was learned that a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, driven by Carole Jean Kline, 67, of Ridgeley, WV failed to yield right of way and pulled out into the path of a 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Carolyn Ann Butler, 54, of Piedmont, WV. both drivers were injured in the crash and were transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by Cresaptown Ambulance.

Both vehicles suffered major damage in the collision. Rt. 220 was partially shut down for approximately one hour. Cresaptown Fire Department also assisted on the scene.
