BATE of Maryland held its annual rally to try to convince lawmakers to repeal Maryland's mandatory helmet law. WBAL reports the group is also trying to convince lawmakers to approve a tire safety bill.
Garry "Pappy" Boward, chairman of ABATE of Maryland told WBAL News that support for the helmet law repeal is growing in the legislature.
However, he says the bill is continually blocked in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, because the chairman of that committee, Democrat Brian Frosh, opposes it.
ABATE has argued that it should be up to the individual adult motorcyclist to decide if they want to wear a helmet.
