Move In PA To Change How Fracking Is Taxed

June 2nd, 2015 by WCBC Radio

While Maryland won’t see fracking for at least a couple more years, the state of Pennsylvania has had it for several years now, and there is a move afoot in the Keystone State to change how it is taxed.

Two committees heard from the Wolf Administration and industry representatives about the pros and cons of enacting a severance tax on natural gas drilling in Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale formations.

Governor Wolf has proposed a 5 percent severance tax on the value of gas at the wellhead plus 4.7 cents per thousand cubic feet of gas extracted.
