MSP Investigates PG Stabbing

The Maryland State Police – Criminal Enforcement Division-Central South Region is currently investigating a stabbing incident which occurred on S/B MD Rt. 95  at MD Rt. 198, Laurel, Prince George’s County, MD.

Preliminary investigation revealed that on July 20, 2014 at approximately 1:35 P.M., Montgomery County Police responded to 7-11, located at 9250 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD for a reported stabbing.  Officers learned that the victim, Elmer Alexander Montiel, 46 of Greenbelt and the suspect, Elsa Torres, 45 of Greenbelt were traveling S/B on MD Rt. 95 at MD Rt. 198, Laurel, Prince George’s County, MD.  During which time an argument began that escalated to Torres retrieving a screwdriver and stabbing Montiel several times.  Montiel drove to a nearby 7-11, located at 9250 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD.  Once at the 7-11, Montiel exited the vehicle and requested medical assistance.  Montiel was transported to Washington Adventist Hospital for treatment to his injuries. 

Later, troopers from the Forestville Barrack and College Park Barrack located Torres.  She was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, 1st and 2nd degree assault.  She was incarcerated at the county detention center pending a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.
