MSP Working On Smithsburg Armed Robbery

Saturday night just before 11:30 PM, Troopers of the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack were dispatched for a reported armed robbery at the High’s Dairy in Smithsburg, MD. It was reported that an unknown male entered the store dressed in all dark clothing and brandished a butcher knife. The male was wearing a black mask, hooded sweatshirt and gloves. The male walked behind the counter and took an undisclosed amount of cash and a large amount of cigarettes. The male fled on foot to the rear of the store. Maryland State Troopers conducted a K-9 track with the assistance of MSP helicopter Trooper 3. The K-9 track ended a short distance later. The suspect may have fled to a nearby vehicle and left the area. The Maryland State Police was assisted by MSP Troopers of the Frederick Barrack, multiple units of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Smithsburg Police Department. It is requested that anyone with information or anyone that observed anything suspicious in the area to call the Hagerstown Barrack.
