On 8/22/16 at approximately 10:30 p.m. a Deputy with the Allegany County Sheriff's Office observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on Queen City Drive, Cumberland, MD. The Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and found it to be occupied by Valerie Palm and "Robert Thomas" both of Hagerstown, MD.
After an investigation into the subjects identities the Deputy assisted by Pfc. B. Leedy of the Cumberland Police Department was able to determine that "Robert Thomas" was connected with multiple fictitious names.
"Robert Thomas" was determined to actually be 35 year old Mark Allen Smith of Hagerstown, MD. A check of Smith conducted by the Allegany County Joint Communications Center revealed him to be actively wanted in 7 jurisdictions across 2 States.
Smith was placed under arrest and taken before a Commissioner of the District Court who remanded him to the custody of the Sheriff without bond.
