July 10th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

On 7/10//17 Troopers from the Maryland State Police Hagerstown Barrack were conducting speed enforcement in the area of Westbound I-70 at the 35mile marker in Washington, County.  TFC D. Rishell observed a black Nissan Maxima that appeared to be traveling at a rate of speed higher than the posted 70 mph speed limit.  TFC Rishell was able to obtain a speed on the Nissan Maxima of 91mph.  TFC Rishel then pursued the Maxima and activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

The Nissan Maxima originally slowed to approximately 40mph , however did not pull to the shoulder of the interstate and continued to drive west on I-70.  The Maxima then accelerated to 78mph, refusing to stop and a pursuit ensued west on I-70.  During the pursuit, Police Dispatcher Keyser was able to determine that the Nissan Maxima was listed as a Felony Vehicle and that the operator was possibly wanted for a Homicide that occurred in Raleigh North Carolina.  At this point, TFC Rishell was joined in the pursuit by M/Tpr Butler and TFC Schmidt.

The Nissan Maxima continued Westbound on I-70 until finally exiting onto Northbound Rt 65 (Sharpsburg Pike).  The Maxima then did a quick U-turn at Premium Outlets Boulevard and then turned into the parking lot of the AC&T and came to a stop.  Troopers then performed a felony stop and ordered the driver out of the Nissan and he was taken into custody without further incident.
