Myers Legal Notice Suggests Cumberland Administrator Was Snubbed on Job

June 2nd, 2017 by WCBC Radio

According to the 11-page legal notice pertaining to potential sexual harassment charges against Washington County Commissioner Leroy Myers- Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Rhodes was actually offered the job as Washington County administrator.  The accusations against Myers, made by a longtime county employee, suggests that Rhodes was interviewed for the soon to be vacant administrators post- and a majority of the commissioners agreed to hire him on March 14th pending completion of contract negotiations. The next day however, the document says Myers claimed to have had a “change of heart” on the matter and opted not to support offering the job to Rhodes. The position ultimately went to Robert Slocum, who had been serving as the county’s director of engineering and construction.
