A number of National Day of Prayer events were held in he area Thursday, beginning with the annual Prayer Breakfast at the Ramada Inn in Downtown Cumberland. The crowd heard from featured speaker Dr. Elmer Towns, co-founded of Liberty University. Towns spoke on church growth, church leadership, Christian education, Sunday School, and the concept of prayer and fasting. A large crowd was on hand later in the day for the Prayer Rally on the Downtown Mall.
