National Honor Society Alco Inductees

Allegany High School’s Chapter of the National Honor Society held its annual induction ceremony Tuesday welcoming 40 new members into the organization.  Conducting the school-wide ceremony were Walker Magrath, President; Kristin Ratliff, Vice-President; Kyra Merrill, Treasurer; and Grant Hoover, Secretary/Historian. 

The ceremony’s keynote speaker, chosen by members of the NHS, was Kay Sheehe, Allegany High School instructional leader and social studies teacher, the school’s Teacher of the Year representative, and co-advisor of NHS.  Mrs. Sheehe shared, “All students at Allegany High School strive to excel; the NHS members excel in numerous areas that embody the hallmark qualities of NHS.”  She went on to say, “I was an honor to speak on behalf of the school.”

Other speakers for the annual induction ceremony included Michael Calhoun, Allegany High School principal, and Dr. David Cox, Superintendent of Schools.  Lori Brown, teacher and co-advisor of NHS, noted that “Members of the National Honor Society are recognized leaders who make exemplary contributions to their school, and membership in the NHS is a distinct honor.” The Faculty Council at Allegany also includes James Bucy, Betsy Geiger, Debra Slider, and Kevin Wallace.
