National Road Autosport Asks for Renewal in 2015

October 27th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

Members of the National Road Autosport  are requesting that a renewal for the 2015 autocross be a subject of discussion during an upcoming  meeting of the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority. Autosport Secretary William Herbaugh addressed the Allegany County Commissioners on the issue during the county’s public meeting- seeking county support for a return of the race next year.  The authority denied the NRA’s request to use the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport’s operational grounds for the 2014 autocross citing that it would affect FAA funding. He says the request is  based on new information concerning regular safety plans and the relationship of Federal Aviation Authority Grant Assurance to our programming, as obtained with the help of U.S. Sen. Ben Cardin over the past year in reference to our long-standing use of airport property.  In that letter Cardin wrote, he instructed the regional FAA office to work with the authority in preparing a proper plan for a non-aeronautical event to be held at the airport. Herbaugh is asking Allegany County officials to get involved…
