Nelson Auto Owner Barry Mason Dies Thursday

Barry S. Mason, 59, of Ridgeley, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 18th, 2020 at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.


Born November 10, 1960, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Bill and Janice Mason.


He grew up in Fort Ashby and graduated Frankfort High School, Fairmont State University and West Virginia University in the School of Engineering.


He worked at ABL prior to owning and operating Nelson Auto Sales, Ridgeley from 1988-2017. Barry was the third generation owner of Nelson Auto Sales. He was instrumental in constructing the new facility, updating to the age of technology, and broadening the scope of customer care.


Barry was co-founder, alongside his wife, of Sharing Life Ministries and The Life Center in Ridgeley. He has been instrumental in helping others, particularly youth, to know and to grow in Jesus Christ. Barry was a father to the fatherless, a friend to the friendless and a generous, godly and giving man. He served on the board of the Cumberland YMCA and Cry of Deliverance Ministries International.


Barry leaves behind his wife of 34 years, Susan (Nelson) Mason; their two daughters, Diana Webb (Addison) and Beth Cosner (Matt); three grandchildren, Macy, Jacqueline and Jacob; his brother, Bill Mason (Christine); his sister, Mary Christman (Todd); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lynn and Jane Nelson; brother-in-law, Lynn A. Nelson (Suzanne); and, nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his barking sidekick, Honey Mason.


Friends will be received at Central Assembly of God Church, 2020 Bedford Street, Cumberland, on Tuesday from 11 AM until 1 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM, with Pastors Doug Seaman and Stevie Leydig, presiding.


Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
