The Potomac Highlands Airport Authority last month selected Ryan Shaffer of Keyser as the new airport manager. Shaffer was selected from a field of candidates that initially numbered in the dozens, according to Cindy Pyles, the authority’s chairwoman, Shaffer, who is working in a part-time capacity, is a plane owner, commercial pilot and flight instructor for Shaffer Aviation. He previously worked for Airline Transport Professionals as a dispatcher and flight instructor. The local airport has been without commuter air service for many years- and Shaffer says given the sagging economy he doesn’t envision a return of that service anytime soon…
