New Allegany School Groundbreaking Set in May

The new Allegany High School project is moving forward with the hope for a late May groundbreaking ceremony- with the school board president indicating that there is already adequate funding  in place to complete the project.  In March, the Allegany County Board of Education accepted a $50.8 million bid to construct the new high school on Haystack Mountain.  During Tuesday’s work session, Vince Montana, director of facilities for the school system, said that the Interagency Committee on School Construction has given a thumbs up for the board’s restructured funding package…





Although the board, with roughly $46.5 million secured, is still about $3.5 to $4 million short in funding for the project- School Board President Ed Root says the board has been told by Montana that the funding in place is adequate to build the new school- even if the shortfall isn’t made up…
