Newly appointed Cumberland City Council member Laurie Marchini, who wrapped up eight years as a member of the Board of Education earlier this month, does plan to run for another term on the city council in two years.   With an election for two seats on the city council held last year, Marchini, who early on announced she wouldn’t seek a third term on the school board, was asked why she was not a candidate for city office in the 2018 election. She said she only chose to apply to fill the vacant seat after receiving encouragement from supporters- and in particular- her husband…

With all due respect, Mrs. Marchini has been on the City Council, as of this writing, a whopping 10 days…..and she wants to run for this Council seat again in 2 years? How can she know that she’s going to be a good and effective Council member? She hasn’t even begun! She has done nothing!
This just seems strange to me. Unless, of course, she just wants the prestige, the power and likes being an elected official.

The problem here is she has already set her sights on screwing up the city the way she did the school board. I believe the mayor, whom I voted for, and city council picked the wrong person. If she wanted to be on city council why did she not run in the first place? This was an example of good ole boy politics by placing her on the council.
