New DelFest Contract Not Expected To Be Finalized Until At Least May

March 6th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

It’s been more than two months since Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine prematurely announced that a new five year contract had been signed between the county and representatives of DelFest- and to date, no new deal is in place.  The 2016 DelFest was the last event under a previous contract between the parties. At this point, no contract exists for the event.  However, the 2017 festival will take place under the terms spelled out in the previous contract.  The status of the county’s tourism director Barb Buehl future has been a topic of discussion between the county and representatives with the McCoury camp.  Buehl has been a coordinator between the McCourys' management team and local officials since the early days of DelFest.  She tells WCBC News that the newly formed Del Commission has been meeting in regards to a new contract- but nothing is expected to be finalized until at least May…
