New Emissions Limitations Could Have Devastating Impact On AES Warrior Run

January 20th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

Fearing that the impact could be devastating for AES Warrior Run in Cumberland- the Allegany County Legislative Delegation has written a letter to the State’s Secretary of the Environment  opposing  proposed new emissions limitations for certain electric generating units. The letter, from State Senator George Edwards to Secretary Robert Summers, said the proposed regulations pertaining to “NOx” emissions could have substantial, serious and negative impacts on AES Warrior Run.  The letter requests the MDE to either remove Warrior Run from the list of affected electric generating units or, in the alternative, modify the proposal to reduce its impact on Warrior Run.  The letter concludes by noting that a shut-down of the Warrior Run facility would have devastating effect on an already struggling western Maryland economy.
