New Promotions Director Says There Is No Ill Will Between Mullaney And DDC

Despite ongoing rumors to the contrary, Cumberland’s new promotions director, Steven Leyh tells WCBC News that there is  no ill will between the Downtown Development Commission and former Mall Manager Ed Mullaney.  Mullaney, a staple of the downtown mall for several decades is viewed as largely responsible for helping revitalize the mall with popular events such as the New Years Eve Ball Drop, the Christmas Tree Lighting program and most notably the popular Friday After Five shows that featured live music during the summer season. His abrupt retirement last October led many to believe Mullaney was upset with a new direction that was being pursued by the DDC, including a re-branding and some changes to the After Five program.  Leyh acknowledged that some changes are being implemented, said he isn’t aware of any animosity on the part of Mullaney…
