New State Superintendent Of Schools Confirmed

Maryland's State Board of Education took official action Tuesday on the next superintendent of schools- confirming the selection of Delaware Secretary of Education Lillian Lowery. Lowery has been Delaware's secretary of education since 2009, and is known for facilitating a strategic planning and grant application process that led to Delaware being the first state to be awarded the federal Race to the Top grant. Lowery will replace interim State Superintendent Bernard Sadusky, who has served in the post since July. He replaced Nancy Grasmick, who retired last year after 20 years as superintendent.
