New York Men Face Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

On October 22, 2016 at approximately 11:00 PM an Officer from the Cumberland Police observed a vehicle operating without a properly functioning taillight on Interstate 68.

The Officer stopped the vehicle on Interstate 68 near the Willowbrook Road on ramp. The Officer made contact with the driver and passenger. A K9 Officer was summoned to the scene and conducted a scan of the vehicle. The K9 alerted to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS). A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Officers located a substantial amount of suspected cocaine.

The driver originally gave a false name and was later identified as Harry Dale Clarke. Clarke and the passenger, Myconfous Smith, both of Queens, NY, were placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department. At the time of the press release they were both awaiting a bond hearing with the Allegany County District Court Commissioner.

Myconfous T. Smith, age 35, Queens, NY

CDS Possession other than Marijuana

CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute
