NWS Issues Flash Flood Warning For Garrett County

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Garrett County in western Maryland...
  Southeastern Fayette County in southwestern Pennsylvania...
  Northern Preston County in northeastern West Virginia...

* Until midnight EDT.

* At 705 PM EDT, radar indicated heavy rain in the warned area.

  FLASH FLOODING...     Expected.

  ESTIMATED RAINFALL... Up to 3 inches already in southeastern
                        Fayette County.

  ADDITIONAL RAINFALL...Up to 3 inches, especially in Garrett County.

* Some locations that may experience flooding include...
  Kingwood...                       Terra Alta...
  Bittinger...                      Grantsville...
  Friendsville...                   Accident...
  Reedsville...                     Masontown...
  Albright...                       Markleysburg...
  Brandonville...                   Bruceton Mills...

This includes the following highways...
  Interstate 68 in Maryland between mile markers 1 and 30.

  Interstate 68 in West Virginia between mile markers 15 and 32.

Excessive rainfall over the warned area could cause mud slides near
steep terrain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown. Most flood fatalities occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain, there are hundreds of low-water crossings which may
be dangerous in heavy rain. Find an alternate route if a crossing is
flooded.
