NWS Rules Wind Damage in Grantsville Area Was Not Result of a Tornado

April 9th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has determined that winds that damaged the Penn Alps area of Garrett County early Wednesday morning were straight line winds and not tornadic.

Several trees were blown down near Spruce Forest Artisan Village, but there were no injuries and structural damage was minimal.

WCBC News did obtain a photo of a nearby barn that had part of its roof removed by the high winds.

Structural damage to Spruce Forest is not minimal…..structures well over 100,000 to repair or rebuild and close to that to replant most of the spruce trees. VP Spruce Forest Board
