Official Economic Impact Study Of DelFest Requested

Hoping to determine just how much of a revenue stream is created in the region each year by the annual DelFest concerts,  the Allegany County  Commissioners have signed off on a letter to Maryland’s Secretary of Commerce Mike Gill, requesting an official economic impact study of DelFest. The bluegrass festival, headlined by the legendary Del McCoury and his family, has been held at the Allegany County Fairgrounds each of the past eight Memorial Day Weekends- and attracts approximately 35,000 people. County Administrator David Eberly said the idea was generated during a recent meeting between the commissioners and House Speaker Michael Busch, who recommended the local officials to seek state funding to commission the study.
