Official Predicts Expansion Of Gambling In Maryland

A top state gaming official is predicting expansion of gambling in Maryland will rise to the fore of discussions in Annapolis this year, and Senate President Mike Miller and four other senators are already backing legalization of table games. Donald C. Fry, chairman of the panel overseeing slots parlor licensing in the state, said there is a need for additional tax revenue and a reluctance to lean fully on new or increased taxes could stir the gambling question That could mean discussion of adding a sixth slots parlor location or of adding table games at existing and future slots parlors.  Allegany County Commissioner Bill Valentine says a new slots location would require a referendum vote…
