Officials Continue To Monitor Use Of Synthetic Marijuana

Area law enforcement as well as education and health officials are continuing to monitor the use of K2 or Spice- a synthetic marijuana which is not illegal currently, but does have some consequences for many of those who choose to experiment. While the local school system has banned the substance, it is sold legally in convenience stores everywhere. Allegany County Health Officer Dr Sue Raver said just because the substance is still legal and available over the counter- doesn’t mean its safe. The reason: K2 can have serious side effects, including rapid heart rate, seizures and psychosis.
