Oldtown Toll Bridge Closed Due To Rising Water

January 24th, 2017 by WCBC Radio

The Cumberland Times News reports the private toll bridge spanning the Potomac River between Oldtown and Springfield, West Virginia, is closed because of rising water.

Following recent heavy rains, water and debris covered the Oldtown Toll Bridge Tuesday morning. The bridge is the only privately owned toll bridge in Maryland. About 200,000 vehicles cross it each year. It was rebuilt after being damaged by flooding in 2014 and was closed about a week late last year for repairs.

The bridge is the only crossing of the river for 15 miles in either direction.
