O’Malley Administration to Introduce Preventive Legislation

December 21st, 2012 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley said this week  he expects his administration to introduce legislation aimed at preventing catastrophic mass shootings such as the one a week ago at a Connecticut elementary school. He met with his Cabinet members this week to discuss ways to “protect our children better against the unthinkable tragedy of a mass shooting.” While he said he hadn’t settled yet on specific legislation, he was focused on laws concerning the availability of assault rifles and the “huge magazine clips that feed those weapons,” firearms access for the mentally ill and school safety. One idea being discussed on a national level- arming specific school personel- is something O’Malley says he would not be in favor of.
