O’Malley Comments on Conditions; Preparation

October 31st, 2012 by WCBC Radio

At its height, power was out Monday night and into Tuesday for more than 9,000 Allegany County Potomac Edison customers.  In Garrett County, 70 percent of customers — or 16,738 — were without power. The outages were expected and Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley told WCBC News that he made sure that all of the utility companies that service the state were fully prepared to deal with the problems.

Todd Myers with Potomac Edison told WCBC News that while additional manpower and resources were brought in specifically to deal with the expected outages- restoring power could be a lengthy process as a result of difficulty in gaining access to all of the impacted areas.
