O’Malley Creates Commission

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley has created a commission to help law enforcers and others better respond to incidents involving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. WBAL reports O'Malley issued an executive order creating the Maryland Commission for Effective Community Inclusion of Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities this week. O'Malley said in a statement that he created the panel partly in response to the death in January of a man with Down syndrome after a struggle with three off-duty deputies in Frederick.
