Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley will leave office on January 21 of next year, and so this weeks budget briefing was as much a chance for O’Malley to reflect on his eight years in office, as it was a chance to talk about the budget before lawmakers. The governor noted that in eight years, his Administration has cut close to $10 billion in spending, even though the budget has grown every year- as he admits many of the cuts, have actually been smaller increases in spending, in certain areas.
