Roughly half a million Marylanders were without power late Monday, after Hurricane Irene whipped through the state, but Gov. Martin O’Malley said that around the clock efforts continue to address the problem.  Providing an overall hurricane update Monday afternoon, the governor said he was proud of how the state responded to the storm. One death in Maryland was blamed on the hurricane. The governor acknowledged that it may take several days before all of the power has been restored.
